Mannarino Marches Past McDonald
Mannarino continued to exhibit some excellent form as he romped past Mackenzie McDonald in straight sets to enter the semifinal.
While the match lasted an hour and 40 minutes Mannarino faced very little resistance at the start of the second set, before winning 6-1, 6-4. The opening set became one-way traffic right from the very beginning, with Mannarino breaking his opponent in the fourth and sixth game respectively to pouch it.
In the second, Mannarino came out stronger, breaking his American opponent in successive games to race off to a 3-0 lead. He was broken in the fourth but the buffer of the extra break proved to be enough.
Earlier, Mannarino had an opening round bye before he overcame Yuichi Sugita of Japan rather easily. In a match lasting a mere 61 minutes, the Frenchman had broken Sugita five times to win 6-1, 6-1.
With a quarterfinal appearance at the Cologne Open in the week preceding this one, and having stretched the world number seven and US Open runnerup Alexander Zverev to three sets, Mannarino looks to be in the kind of form which makes him an easy pick for not just this match but also the title.

Ruusuvuori Makes Maiden ATP Semifinal
With a career-best ranking of 91st, Ruusuvuori has been an upcoming player but without a semifinal berth under his belt at the ATP circuit. That has changed now, as Ruusuvuori marched into the last four stage with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Mikhail Kukushkin in the quarterfinal.
The match lasted a mere hour and 21 minutes and saw Ruusuvuori break Kukushkin four times in the process. It started with the sixth game in which the Finn moved to a 4-2 lead before serving it out to love at 5-3.
And if Kukushkin thought he would have a chance to make it back into the match in the second set, Ruusuvuori got off to a flier with back to back breaks. He then had a chance to break Kukushkin again to make it 5-0 and while he missed that opportunity, Ruusuvuori got his third break of the set at 5-1 to wrap the match up.
Ruusuvuori, a qualifier, had earlier needed three sets to move past Jordan Thompson but showed no signs of fatigue or inexperience and a first semifinal of his career is something that should add to his confidence.
Mannarino v Ruusuvuori Prediction and Tip
Interesting to note Ruusuvuori is a slight favourite here at 4/5, which allows a Mannarino win at a rather solid 1/1 at the moment. Backing the Frenchman to edge this contest.
Tip: Mannarino to win: 1/1 (bet365)
