This is the first meeting between both players.

Fifth Title of 2020 On The Cards for Rublev
Rublev has won four tournaments in 2020 already, on hard courts, clay and indoors and looking like a strong member of the top ten in the ATP rankings. Along with titles in Doha, Adelaide, Hamburg and St.Petersburg ,he also did well to make the last 16 at the Australian Open and the quarter-finals of both the US & French Opens.
With four titles for the year, he is tied with Novak Djokovic for the most number of titles and looking to take that count further here in Vienna on Sunday.
Rublev has had his fair share of luck this week, but as they say ‘ Fortune favors the brave’. In one of the most anticipated encounters, Rublev was up against Jannik Sinner but Sinner pulled out only three games into their second round encounter. Up against the defending champion and home favorite Dominic Thiem next, Rublev started a little tentative and was down a few break points early, but held on and edged through in a tie-breaker.
Thiem encountered struggles with his foot in the second set and capitulated 2-6 for a straight sets loss.
In his semi-final encounter against resurgent South African Kevin Anderson, Rublev continued his strong run putting pressure on the big Anderson serve and serving strong himself. A 6-4 first set was followed by a 4-1 lead in the second, before Anderson withdrew with a leg injury.
Rublev is yet to drop a set and has held serve continuously for 28 games and does not look like letting up anytime soon, going into the final as a strong favorite.

Dream Tournament for Sonego
Italian Lorenzo Sonego is a clay court specialist who displayed his baseline skills and moved up the rankings in 2019.
Incidentally his only title thus far came on the grass courts of Antalya. 2020 was the best for him with his only notable performances coming on the clay courts of Rio and exhibition events in Italy during the Covid-19 hiatus. He had a decent French Open making the round of 16, before succumbing to eventual semi-finalist Diego Schwartzman
However, it has been a dream week for the world number 42 in Vienna, where he is a ‘Lucky Loser’. Up against world number one Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals, Sonego put on a stellar performance against a listless Djokovic prevailing 6-2, 6-1 and imposing the biggest defeat of Djokovic’s career on him.
Coming into the semi-finals against British number one Dan Evans, Sonego looked to take off from where he left off against Djokovic.
The Italian was in good touch, hitting strong groundstrokes and playing with immense confidence, breaking serve in both sets to prevail 6-4,6-3. He kept the points short with aggressive hitting and never let go of momentum continuing to be a front runner. Evans on the other end may have been a bit run down after his long late night tussle against Grigor Dimitrov that he won in a decider.
Sonego had an answer for everything Evans threw at him, winning 78 per cent of his service points and breaking serve three times to triumph. He is in his first ATP 500 final, looking for a second career trophy and the first Lucky Loser in a Vienna final since 2010.
Rublev v Sonego Prediction and Tip
It has been a dream tournament for Sonego, who ensured the win against Djokovic was no flash in the pan, following it with a convincing win against Evans. However, Rublev is performing at an exceptionally high level and has been very consistent. Expect a straight sets Rublev win and another title in the bag for him in 2020.
Tip: Rublev to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
