Tsitsipas Hoping to Repeat Marseille Showing
The world number six, Tsitsipas, enters this tournament on the back of a second round exit at the Vienna Open, going down to Grigor Dimitrov. He had earlier in the season lost at the same stage of the Rotterdam Open as well, but sandwiching those two under-par indoor court performances was his only title of the season and that came on the same surface too.
Tsitsipas didn’t drop a single set in the entire tournament including a straight-set rout of Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final to help him win that tournament.
More recently, he had a chance to double that tally count when he made the final of the Hamburg Open but he fell to the new-found prowess of Andrey Rublev. That was followed by a semifinal at the French Open where he looked like he was going out in straight sets before mounting a fightback and eventually losing in five.
The Greek had earlier noted that despite the reduced physical fatigue due to a severely curtailed tennis calendar, the mental exhaustion from the pandemic had been immense. It would be interesting to see if that, combined with having barely played since the French Open will make it tougher for Tsitsipas.

Humbert’s Done Better Than Tsitsipas!
It’s been a season to remember for the Frenchman Humbert, who edged past Tsitispas with his second title of the year. After having begun 2020 with an Auckland Open victory which consisted of wins over Casper Ruud, Marco Cecchinato, Denis Shapovalov, John Isner and Benoit Paire, Humbert doubled his tally count with a win at the Antwerp Open late last month.
Humbert stunned Pablo Carreno-Busta in the second round there, and then overcame Dan Evans and Alex De Minaur in the final two rounds to lift his second trophy for the year.
As a result of this recent win, he is now 34th in the world which is two away from his career best. And a first round win over Ruud again, puts him into the direct firing line of a top-10 player.
This will be a good chance to test himself against one having last played and lost to Andrey Rublev at the St. Petersburg Open.
In the first round here, Humbert overcame a late meltdown in the first set when he was broken for the first time by Ruud, surrendering the set in the process, to break him two times in the second to level the match.
The decider went to serve all through to the tie-breaker but Humbert’s superior form helped him clinch it 7-1 to seal a place in the second round.
Tsitsipas v Humbert Prediction and Tip
While Tsitsipas is an obvious favourite, Humbert’s recent title win gives him a chance to take the fight to the opposition. It certainly doesn’t seem as one-sided as the Greek starting out a 1/3 favourite and we could see a few games in this one.
Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6 (bet365)
