Daniil Medvedev v Kevin Anderson Head to Head
This will be the second tour meeting between the two players.
Kevin Anderson won their only previous meeting, which was recently in the Vienna Open last week. The South African recorded a straight sets win in the competition’s quarter-final, en route to a semi-final berth. Additionally, that match was on an indoor hard court.

Medvedev Out For Vengeance
Daniil Medvedev will be hoping to avenge his most recent loss when he takes on Anderson in their second-round fixture. The two met in the Vienna Open quarter-finals last week, with the Russian then attempting to reach his first semi-final since the Us Open. Anderson, however, had different ambitions.
Medvedev had come into the match as a 1/5 favorite but was immediately on the back foot after Anderson broke him in the first game of the match. Anderson later saved the only break point he faced, and then rushed Medvedev with deep returns and capitalized on unforced errors to give him the first set.
Medvedev tried to rally in the second set, as he saved four break points to push the set into a nervy tiebreaker. At match point, however, a backhand error from Medvedev gave the South African a well-deserved victory.
That was Medvedev’s fourth loss in seven matches, which paints a gloomy picture over his current form. Ever since he reached the Us Open semi-final, he’s been eliminated in the first round in the French and Hamburg European Open; the second round of the St. Petersburg Open—a competition that he was the undoubted favorite—and now most recently in Vienna.
If he wants to head to London in good form, he’ll need to pick things up in Paris first. That starts with eyeing up vengeance against Kevin Anderson.

Kevin Anderson In Resurgent Form
Anderson seems to be in a great spell of form. Despite his semi-final loss against Andrey Rublev, the eventual tournament winner, a match that he was forced to retire in the second set; he still appears to be hitting the right notes.
He began well in his Paris Masters’ first-round fixture against Laslo Djere and went 5-2 up in the first set before the Serb retired due to an injury, paving way for Anderson to reunite with his most recent top 10 win.
Prior to defeating Medvedev, he hadn’t beaten a top 10 since the 2018 ATP Finals. Additionally, that win took him to his first semi-final in 21 months, showing that he’s rehabilitated well after undergoing a second right knee surgery on 19 February.
The 19-time ATP finalist will now be hoping to repeat his great performance from a week ago to qualify for the third round in style. With the momentum going his way currently, another win against Medvedev doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.
Medvedev v Anderson Prediction And Tip
Medvedev is still the favorite at 1/3, but Anderson has the momentum currently. If he can match the consistency that he showed from the baseline in Vienna and finish his rallies as he did then, this could end up being a tighter match. Therefore, I expect a lot of games in this one, and probably a third set.
Tip: Over 9.5 games in set 2: 4/7 (bet365)
