Alexander Zverev v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head
There have been four previous encounters between Zverev and Mannarino and the Germany has won each time. Two of these have come as recently as post the pandemic break.
In the first at the US Open third round, Zverev overcame a set deficit to carve out a four-set win while in the Cologne Open quarterfinal, he needed three sets including a tie-breaker to break the Mannarino resistance.

Zverev Takes No Prisoners
It was Zverev’s nine successive win and the German faced no major issues in getting past Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic. After getting a first round bye, Zverev had entered this second round encounter pegged at 1/3 to win it against the out-of-form Serb and he delivered just like he was expected to.
Zverev was quickly off the blocks, starting aggressively enough to break Kecmanovic in the very first game of the match. And after back to back holds to love, the German made it two breaks in the set to take a 4-1 lead before wrapping it up 6-2.
The only thing different in the second set was the games in which Zverev broke his opponent – it came in the third and the seventh games – but the scoreline and the nature of win was similar.
Given Zverev’s form, the win shouldn’t come as much of a surprise but he should be wary of his next opponent who has been one of those rare ones from outside the top 20 to test him consistently.

Mannarino Wards off Nishioka Threat
Turning a season around, Mannarino style. The first six tournaments in which Mannarino played since the players returned to play tennis following the pandemic, the Frenchman won just two matches.
Since then, however, he has been steadily improving and that was on show at both Cologne and Astana Open. At the former, he made the quarterfinal before that stiff loss to Zverev while at the latter, Mannarino was a losing finalist, going down to John Millman.
And in both the matches he has played in this tournament so far, Mannarino hasn’t been an outright favourite by any stretch. He defeated Dusan Lajovic in the first round before thwarting a fightback from Yoshihito Nishioka to clinch a three-setter against the Japanese player.
Up a set and a break, Mannarino looked to have lost the advantage when he was broken back and then lost the second set in a tie-breaker. However, he came back to win the final set after breaking the Japanese in the sixth game.
Zverev v Mannarino Prediction and Tip
Given their record, we expect Mannarino to come up with another solid performance and even notch up a set.
Tip: Mannarino to win a set – Yes: 6/4 (bet365)
