Rafael Nadal v Jordan Thompson Head to Head
This will be the first competitive meeting between Nadal and Thompson.

Nadal Nearly Nailed by Lopez
The form, ranking, odds, head to head and everything else you can think of was on Nadal’s side entering this second round encounter against fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez and yet, the world number two looked like he was on the way out.
Nadal was down an early break, losing his first service game and failing to make a comeback in the opening set. Lopez closed it out after facing a break-point in the fourth game, and serving it out to love in the 10th.
In the second set, Lopez was pushed to the brink on multiple occasions but each time came up with something special to hold on to his serve. He then held his own in the tie-breaker as well, level at 3-3 but Nadal found an opening here, broke to go 6-3 up and then finish it off 7-5.
And having smelled blood, Nadal proceeded to break Lopez in the very first game of the third set – and to love – before holding on throughout, including the 10th game to 30, edging his opponent out in three.
It was the first set Nadal had dropped since his defeat to Diego Schwartzman in the Rome quarterfinal and the first in a win since the Australian Open fourth round match against Nick Kyrgios.

Thompson Thumps Coric in Comeback Win
Australia’s Thompson had no business to win his second round match against Borna Coric. Here he was, struggling throughout the season and having fallen to 61st in the world as a result.
Having entered the match down to 4/1 odds to have a chance of a win.
Having lost the first set after getting broken twice. Then having fallen a break behind in the second set as well.
The start of the comeback came in the fourth game of the second. He broke back to level things off at 2-2 and then surprised his opponent with another break in the decisive 10th game when Coric was serving to stay in the match.
Even in the third set, Thompson fell a break behind but broke back immediately to make it 1-1. And in a show of grit, he broke Coric a further two times to complete a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory and a march to only his second career third round showing at a Masters tournament.
Nadal v Thompson Prediction and Tip
Nadal might have been pushed in his second round match against Lopez and indoor courts might not be his most preferred but expect him to find his rhythm and win this on in straight sets.
Tip: Nadal to win in straight sets: 1/2 (bet365)
