Aliaksandra Sasnovich v Jana Fett Head to Head

This will be the first match between Sasnovich and Fett at a competitive level.

Sasnovich Breezes Past Bernarda

There were no major issues for Sasnovich as she sped past Bernarda Pera in the first round of this competition, winning 6-3, 6-1 in an hour and 19 minutes.

Sasnovich’s serve proved to be the telling difference between the two as she was broken just once in the entire encounter, as compared to the five breaks of serves she earned for herself.

After saving four break-points in the second game of the opening set, Sasnovich proceeded to break her opponent in the third game and made it two in a row in the fifth. Pera tried to come back with a break of her own as Sasnovich looked to serve for the set in the eighth game but dropped serve in the very next game to lose the set.

And then there was no looking back for Sasnovich who slammed the pedal and broke her opponent twice in the second set to complete an easy win.

This comes on the back of some solid performances all of the post-pandemic season for Sasnovich, which has seen her make the quarterfinals at Palermo as a qualifier, and another quarterfinal in Istanbul more recently while making it to her joint career-best of third round at the US Open.

Fett Wins Maiden Match of 2020

When you are ranked 236th in the world, you do not often get the chance to feature on the ATP circuit, but when you do, it’s always good to grab your chance. That’s what Fett, who was once in the top 100 of the rankings, seems to have done here in Linz.

The Croat made it through the qualifiers to enter the main draw, and was leading Tereza Martincova 6-2, 3-1 before her opening round opponent retired from the match because of fitness issues. This was Fett’s first WTA tour-level win in the main draw of a competition since July 2019.

Fett’s record indoors at the lower level has been neat too. This year, she has played 23 matches – which includes ITF qualifiers as well – and won 16 of them. To make it a 17th win, she will need to play to her best since her career-best-ever ranking of 97 is still short of her opponent’s current ranking of 92!

Sasnovich v Fett Prediction and Tip

Sasnovich is 4/11 to win this but given the difficulties with rustiness in playing the odd tournament at the WTA level, Fett could hold some sort of an edge to win at least a set.

Tip: Fett to win a set – Yes: 4/5 (bet365)
