Sorana Cirstea v Océane Dodin Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between the two players.
Surprisingly, they met in the second round of the Linz Open back in 2016, just as they’ll do in their upcoming clash. Océane Dodin won that previous meeting in straight sets, which took her to the competition’s quarter-final.

Cirstea ‘Lucks’ Out In Previous Outing
Sorana Cirstea came into her first-round match against 225th-ranked wild card Julia Grabher as a 1/10 favorite.
Nevertheless, the match didn’t begin as planned. The Austrian began strongly and even broke Cirstea in the match’s first game. She then rescued a break point to go 2-0 up against Cirstea.
When she was 3-2 up, however, Grabher sustained an ankle injury which forced her to retire from the match, handing Cirstea a victory and a path to the second round.
That victory will be bittersweet for Cirstea, especially taking the circumstances into account.
This season has already been underwhelming for her. Before she partook in this tournament, she had only won three main draw matches in all of the tournaments that she had participated in.
The star who once reached as high as number 21 on the WTA rankings may well write off this year as many people will, but she still has a chance to grab something from her last tournament.

Dodin Comes Back against Teichmann
Dodin began her participation in Austria with some style. She came back against seventh-seeded Jil Teichmann, her first-round opponent, to win the match and qualify for the second round.
Though she had come in as the favorite, she found herself in deep trouble when she was broken twice in the first set and lost it 6-1.
She began on the back foot in the second set as well when Teichmann broke her in the set’s first game but she immediately broke back. Teichmann broke her again in the fifth game, but Dodin rallied to break her opponent twice in the last three games of the set, which she ended up winning 6-4.
The last set was smooth sailing for her. She got six break points and capitalized on three of them to round off the tie 6-2.
Now she walks into her second-round match as the favorite, and one would expect that her good performances throughout the year will carry on into that match
Cirstea v Dodin Prediction and Tip
Cirstea’s bad record throughout the year seems set to continue. Dodin is flying high with a good 28-12 win/loss record and some great performances which have seen her win two ITF circuits, as opposed to Cirstea’s 10-9 record throughout the year. Therefore, back Dodin to replicate some of those great performances and win this one too in the fewest sets possible.
Tip: Dodin to win in straight sets: 4/6 (bet365)
