Japanese tennis and other sport equipment company Yonex has announced it would be launching their 6th-generation of VCORE racquets in January 2021.

According to a press release by Yonex, the racquet will be launched on January 15 of the new year, with a special focus on spin and speed.

The racquet will allow tennis players with a propensity towards spin to “unlock heavy spin, attacking spin, topspin, backspin and side spin” in a report on their website.

Men’s world number 12 Denis Shapovalov and multiple Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber will kick-start their new season with the Yonex VCORE 6th-generation racquets.

An earlier proponent of the Wilson Six One 95, Shapovalov has been using the Yonex VCORE for a while now (check his racquet specs here), while Kerber’s racquet has been the Yonex VCORE 100S.

Other than the VCore, Yonex also has an EZone model of racquets which are currently used by the US Open winner Naomi Osaka.

Some of the new features associated with this Yonex racquet include a new frame which exhibits a change in the widest portion of the equipment towards upper hoop, allowing a better movement of the string.

The use of 2G-Namd Flex Force in the region between the upper throat and lower frame adds more spin to the racquet, while it also has String Sync Grommets which snychronise with the main strings when the racquet is perpendicular to the ground, ensuring a better string snapback speed.

A Vibration Dampening Mesh (VDM) has also been built into this model, along with the other three such racquet series, helping reduce the unwanted vibrations.

All of this is expected to increase the spin by more than 5% and bring in a drop angle which is around 3% steeper.
