Aryna Sabalenka v Ajla Tomljanovic Head to Head
Sabalenka leads 2-1 head-to-head, winning in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2018 and in Indian Wells in 2019. Tomljanovic won at the Miami Open in 2019. Interestingly, both of Sabalenka’s wins were in three sets, and on both the occasions she bageled Tomljanovic in the decider.

World No. 10 Aryna Sabalenka seems to have carried her 2020 form to 2021 as she overcame a slow start to win her first round match against Polona Hercog at the WTA Abu Dhabi Open on Wednesday to extend her winning streak to 10 matches.
A seven-time winner on the WTA Tour, Sabalenka, who won back-to-back titles in Ostrava and Linz to close out 2020, was off to a shaky start against Hercog, who raced to a 5-2 lead in the first set and had two set points at 40-15. But the Slovenian failed to convert either of those as the 22-year-old Belarusian clawed her way back into the match, winning the first set in the tiebreak.
With her rhythm back, Sabalenka didn’t have much of a problem in dispatching Hercog in the next set. She saved six of nine break point opportunities and converted five of 12 in the match to win the 1-hour-and-47-minute contest 7-6 (7-5), 6-2.
In the next round, the Belarusian will be up against World No. 68 Tomljanovic, who, too, kickstarted her 2021 season with a straight sets win.

Tomljanovic Breaks Losing Streak
Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovic needed an hour and 42 minutes to beat China’s Lin Zhu 6-2, 7-6 (7-0) in the first round on Wednesday.
The Croatian-born Tomljanovic who came into the tournament on the back of seven defeats in a row, finally snapped her losing streak to win her first singles match since her Round of 64 win at the Qatar Open last February.
While the 27-year-old Aussie didn’t have much trouble in winning the first set, she was tested by 91st –ranked Lin in the second, as she broke early and went 0-3 up before Tomljanovic staged a comeback.
Sabalenka v Tomljanovic Prediction and Tip
With Sabalenka shaking off the rust and regaining her rhythm, she will be the favourite against Tomljanovic. Expect the Belarusian to win in straight sets.
