Bublik Eases Into the Second Round

Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik needed just an hour and eight minutes to dispatch Italy’s Salvatore Caruso 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 32 of the Antalya Open on Thursday.

The 6’5” right-hander was on the money with his serve, hitting eight aces, landing 69% (33 of 42) of his first serves and winning 79% (26 of 33) of them. He won 67% (10 of 15) second serve points and didn’t allow a single break point in the match.

The 23-year-old Kazakh is yet to win a Tour title, but he has clinched 10 titles at the Challenger and Futures levels.

France’s Tristan Lamasine fought back from 3-5 down in the first set to beat Belarus’s Egor Gerasimov 7-6 (8-6), 6-2 in the first round of the tournament on Friday.

Ranked 193 places below the 78th-ranked Gerasimov, Lamasine saved a set point at 4-5 in the first set as he staged a comeback into the contest. The right-handed Frenchman, who improved to 3-5 overall in singles on the Tour, converted all four of the break point opportunities against the Belarusian, while saving two of four on his serve.

The 27-year-old, who has three Challenger and Futures titles, has tasted more success in doubles at the junior level. He will be happy to have started off well in Antalya and would look to reproduce the form on Sunday.
