Mager Off Delray Beach Quarterfinal
One of the few men’s singles players to have already played in one competition before this, Italy’s Mager made it to the quarterfinal at the Delray Beach Open.
He defeated Americans Ryan Harrison and Sam Querrey to enter the last eight and then fell to Christian Harrison in that round – a match he would have given himself a chance given Mager was playing someone ranked outside the top 200.
Still, the Italian would be pleased with his last-eight showing on a surface he hasn’t typically done well on. Last season, for instance, Mager finished with a win-loss record of 1-4 on hard court surfaces, and was 6-6 in 2019.
His corresponding record on clay during the same period was 42-24.
