Felix Auger-Aliassime v Egor Gerasimov Head to Head

Auger-Aliassime is 2-0 against Gerasimov on the Tour.

Both those meetings were in 2020, with the Canadian winning in Marseille in straight sets, and scoring a come-from-behind win in Cologne. They also met once at a lower level event in Tashkent in 2018, with Auger-Aliassime coming out on top in that match as well.

Auger-Aliassime Makes Short Work of Sugita

World No. 21 Felix Auger-Aliassime struck 12 aces on his way to a convincing 6-3, 6-1 win over Japan’s Yuichi Sugita in the Round of 32 of the Murray River Open on Wednesday.

The Canadian, playing his first match of the year, was off to a fast start as he enjoyed four breaks against the Japanese in the match that lasted 66 minutes.

The 20-year-old is coming off two extremely good seasons, which have seen him reach six finals on the Tour. But despite those promising runs, Auger-Aliassime is still searching for his maiden title.

Last season, the Canadian had reached the finals in Rotterdam, Marseille and Cologne but was outplayed by Gael Monfils, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev, respectively, in each of those contests.

He has not won a set in the six finals he has played in and that is one stat he would like to change soon.

Auger-Aliassime’s 23-19 2020 season ended with three defeats on the trot. He would be happy to have started off well in Melbourne and will have his eyes set on another deep run.

Gerasimov Removes 16th Seed

World No. 78 Egor Gerasimov needed two hours and 12 minutes to beat the 16th seed Marton Fucsovics of Hungary in the second round of the tournament on Wednesday.

Two days after winning his first round match against South African Lloyd Harris, the Belarusian battled past the World No. 55, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3. On Monday, the 28-year-old had needed just two sets, winning 6-3, 7-5.

Runner-up of the Maharshtra Open in 2020, Gerasimov is playing his second tournament of the year, having lost his first round match to Tristan Lamasine in Antalya in January.

Auger-Aliassime v Gerasimov Prediction and Tip

With two wins, Gerasimov has a bit of form going for him, but it will still be a huge task to beat the Canadian. Expect Auger-Aliassime to remain unbeaten against the Belarusian.

Tip: Auger-Aliassime to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
