Dan Evans v Cameron Norrie Head to Head
There has been just one match played between them on the Challenger tour with Evans having won the final at the 2016 Aptos Challenger by beating Norrie in straight sets. There have also been five other meetings at the Battle of the Brits, at which three matches were won by Norrie.

Evans Clinches Maiden ATP Title
What a start to the season for Evans! After being on the ATP circuit for more than a decade, having seen some ups and many downs, and having endured a drug ban which saw him lose his ranking, Evans has made a sterling comeback, working his way up the ladder to finally win his first ever title on the ATP circuit.
One cannot even argue that it was a depleted field because of the Australian Open in front, as he needed to defeat Felix Auger-Aliassime in the final to lift the trophy. Evans did that 6-2, 6-3, and it was in line with how the rest of the tournament had gone for him.
Because Evans, in winning the five matches to go the distance, hadn’t dropped a single set, overcoming Borna Coric and Jeremy Chardy on the way as well. This result follows a season of 2020 in which the Brit made it to the semifinal of three ATP tournaments; Dubai, Antwerp and Vienna, thereby establishing his consistency.
Evans will also take confidence from the fact his best ever showing at a Grand Slam has come at the Australian Open – a fourth round appearance at the 2017 edition.

Norrie Starts off with Mixed Results
Norrie might not have had as consistent a season as his fellow Brit Evans, but he did make an impression at the Battle of the Brits competition throughout the season. Organised for the British players during the pandemic break and later played in December as well, Norrie won 12 of the 17 matches he participated in during those tournaments.
And he kick-started this year with a run to the semifinal of the Delray Beach earlier in January, before falling to Sebastian Korda.
Unfortunately for him, a fighting first round match against Tommy Paul at the Murray River Open – the same title that Evans won – saw him crash out in the opening round itself.
And now he takes on a familiar, but solid opponent, who is in the form of his life in recent times. Norrie will have his task cut out but will hope to take something away from his previous wins against Evans.
Evans v Norrie Prediction and Tip
Evans is odds on favourite to win this while Norrie starts off 6/4 to cause an upset. While we believe a best-of-five match might not all see one-way traffic, an Evans win looks very likely.
Tip: Evans to win AND Both players to win a set: 8/5 (bet365)
