Ugo Humbert v Yasutaka Uchiyama Head to Head
Humbert has a losing record against Uchiyama, losing in their only meeting to date at 2019 Brisbane International in straight sets.

Humbert On the Cusp Of Top 30
After a career-best season in 2020, Ugo Humbert is looking to build on a breakthrough year with another solid season. Humbert won his first ATP title in Auckland last year, and produced a series of consistent run of results on the main tour.
The Frenchman also earned multiple victories over top 10 players such as Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas. A second career title arrived on the indoor hardcourt of Antwerp, where the Frenchman withstood the challenges of Pablo Carreno Busta, Lloyd Harris and Dan Evans, before he beat Alex De Minaur in the championship match.
It was a tremendous season by Humbert’s standards, finishing the year just the way he started; by playing superb tennis. On home soil, he reached the quarterfinal of the Paris Masters, and en route, he stunned Tsitsipas and Marin Cilic.
The ASB Classic did not happen this year due to a complete shakeup of the tennis calendar, and Humbert never got the chance to defend his title. But French tennis is most likely witnessing a changing of the guard, and this vibrant 22-year-old from Metz knows no bounds when it comes to success.

Uchiyama Has Winning Record Against Monday’s Opponent
Yasutaka Uchiyama will be buoyed by his winning record against Humbert, but Monday’s match will be a different ballgame. Humbert is an accomplished top 30 player, which is contrast to the days when they played in Brisbane two years ago.
Uchiyama, who is 28, had a banner year in 2019. There were a handful of career firsts. That season began in the most dramatic fashion. Having missed the cut for qualifying in Brisbane, he still managed to fly to Australia and prepare for the Australian Open. But interestingly, he was slotted straight in to the qualifying section for the Brisbane International where he advanced and reached the main draw.
He stunned Humbert in his very first match and went all the way to the quarterfinals, his very first at tour level. That season, he stepped inside the top 100 of the ATP rankings after starting the year outside it, and he won two Challenger titles.
However, he struggled for consistency in 2020. With coronavirus pandemic heavily disrupting schedule, the Japanese man did not feature predominantly on the Challenger level where he has historically recorded most of his match wins.
Humbert v Uchiyama Prediction and Tip
Humbert played a spectacular season in 2020, and it will be fascinating to see if he is able to keep up that level in these early stages of the new season. He is heavily favored here. While we expect Uchiyama to stay solid behind the baseline, he is struggling dearly right now.
Tip: Humbert to win in four sets: (bet365)
