Brady Hovering at Career-Best

Brady had hit her career-best ranking of 24th in the world after a US Open campaign where she reached the semifinal. It was her maiden appearance in the last four stage of a Grand Slam and had followed her first ever title win on the WTA circuit.

She ended the season with a semifinal appearance in Ostrava and while Brady was shocked by Tamara Zidansek in the first round of the Abu Dhabi Open earlier this season, she came back strongly in Melbourne.

Featuring at the Grampians Trophy, Brady blitzed past Svetlana Kuznetsova, Marta Kostyuk and Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets to make it to the semifinals. And while she went down to Ann Li at that stage, it was a fighting defeat in the final set match tie-breaker.

The American looks to have done enough to suggest she will be a second week contender, especially given her draw doesn’t seem to be the toughest till at least the fourth round.

Bolsova Hoping to Make that Step-Up

While she has been around at the WTA circuit for a while, Bolsova is yet to get herself a performance to remember on hard court surfaces. Her breakthrough showing came at the 2019 French Open where she reached the fourth round but other than that, she has typically struggled on the tour.

Last season, for instance, Bolsova won two main draw matches on the WTA tour, while trying to remain afloat on the ITF circuit.

This year, the Spaniard started off with a first round win over Ankita Raina, having gone in as a favourite alright but then fell to a three-set defeat at the hands of Marie Buzkova in round two of the Yarra Valley Classic in Melbourne.

The good news for Bolsova is this will be her first ever main draw appearance, which should earn her a few points but coming up against a player of the calibre of Brady, it looks highly unlikely she would go any further.

Brady v Bolsova Prediction and Tip

At 1/10, Brady is an overwhelming favoourite here and a straight-set win (1/3) looks a very likely result as well.

Tip: Brady to win in straight sets: 1/3 (bet365)
