Milos Raonic v Marton Fucsovics Head to Head
The Canadian leads 2-0, winning on the grass courts of Stuttgart in 2018 and 2019. Fucsovics is yet to win a set against Raonic.

Raonic Marches Forward
World No. 14 Milos Raonic continued his march at the Australian Open as he defeated France’s Corentin Moutet in the second round on Wednesday.
The 30-year-old right-hander struck 26 aces and 70 winners on his way to a 6-7 (1-7), 6-1, 6-1, 6-4 win in two hours and 25 minutes.
Having lost the first-set tiebreak to the feisty Frenchman, Raonic recovered quickly with a dominating performance in the next three sets.
A 2016 semifinalist and four-time quarterfinalist (including the last two years) at the Australian Open, Raonic didn’t allow a single break point opportunity to Moutet, while creating 16 for himself and converting six of those. He also approached the net on 46 occasions, winning 34 of those points.
A former World No. 3, the 6’5” Raonic, who was 1-1 at the ATP Cup this year, had defeated Federico Coria in the first round. Beginning solidly, Raonic needed just an hour and 35 minutes to defeat the Argentinian 6-3, 6-3, 6-2.
A winner of eight career titles and a finalist at the 2016 Wimbledon, Raonic had a very good 2020 season, finishing with a 23-9 record, which included a runner-up finish in Cincinnati and runs to the semifinal at the Paris Masters, St. Petersburg Open and Delray Beach Open.
He will be eyeing another run to quarterfinal at this year’s Melbourne slam but will be wary of his next round opponent who ousted the No. 17 seed after an epic battle on Wednesday.

Fucsovics Shows Nerves of Steel Against Wawrinka
Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics saved three match points to outlast No. 17 seed and 2014 Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka in a thrilling five-set second-round match on Wednesday.
Having raced to a two-set lead, the Hungarian saw the Swiss fight his way back into the contest, forcing the deciding set.
In the final set tiebreak, Wawrinka forged ahead with a 1-6 lead and found himself with three match points at 6-9, but Fucsovics refused to surrender, fighting back to win the epic contest 7-5, 6-1, 4-6, 2-6, 7-6 (11-9).
The Hungarian, who needed 4 hours and 12 minutes to win his first round match against Aussie wild card Marc Polmans in five sets on Monday, needed 3 hours and 59 minutes to dispatch the Swiss in the second round.
In a match that witnessed a total of 304 points, Fucsovics won 156 of those against Wawrinka’s 148. The Hungarian, who hit 34 winners to Wawrinka’s 49, made just 46 unforced errors compared to his opponent’s 73.
The 28-year-old right-hander has slowly got into a habit of beating seeded players in Grand Slams. Last year, in Melbourne, Fucsovics began with a four-set win over 13th seed Denis Shapovalov on his way to a fourth-round finish, where he was beaten by Roger Federer.
Later, at the U.S. Open, the Hungarian defeated 14th seed Grigor Dimitrov in a five-set second round contest before falling to Frances Tiafoe in the third round.
At the French Open, Fucsovics stunned fourth seed Daniil Medvedev in the first round, winning the contest in four. He went as far as the fourth round before losing to Russia’s Andrey Rublev.
The 2018 Geneva Open champion, Fucsovics has played some of his best tennis over the last couple of years and will be aiming for a first last eight at a major this year.
Raonic v Fucsovics Prediction and Tip
Raonic leads 2-0 head to head but both of his victories came on grass and this will be the first time they meet on the hard court.
Also, Fucsovics is a much-improved player now and has the ability to lift his game against seeded players. Raonic, however, will be fresher of the two, having dominated his first two matches, while Fucsovics has already played two mentally draining contests. He should still be ready in time for Friday’s third round. Expect a very close contest, with Raonic holding an edge.
Tip: Raonic to win 3-1 or 3-2 in set
