Medvedev Winning Streak Continues
Medvedev ended 2020 on a strong note with victories at the Paris Masters and the ATP Tour Finals In London. This was followed by an unbeaten run earlier this month at the ATP Cup.
The Russian cruised through his first two rounds here and he looked ready for another straight sets win against Serbian Filip Krajinovic. Not before long, the Russian was up two sets to love, clinching each set 6-3.
Medvedev was able to hold his serve early in the third set, but serving to stay in the set, the Russian felt the pressure at 4-5 and lost serve and in turn conceded the set. Krajinovic got off to a flier in the fourth set breaking Medvedev early and in no time, the match was headed for a decider. The Russian sharpened his game in the final set clinching it 6-0 after raising eyebrows for his lack of concentration among both his fans and tennis experts.
Going into his fourth round against Mackenzie McDonald, the Russian would have been wary of avoiding a similar setback after a strong start when he failed to close the first set at 5-2. However, a 6-4 win followed that set and after that there was no looking back for the number four seed as he wrapped up a clinical straight sets win with little room for the American McDonald to impress.
One of the pre-tournament favorites, Medvedev now plays compatriot and friend Rublev in the quarter-finals and will hope to be in good form as the going only gets tougher from here with the likes of Rafa Nadal and Novak Djokovic waiting, should Medvedev win against Rublev.

Red-Hot Rublev Form Continues
Andrey Rublev had a phenomenal 2020 winning five tournaments (more than anyone on the tour) on hard courts, clay and indoors. The Russian carried his form into this year, representing his country at the ATP Cup, and along with Daniil Medvedev, led Russia to the title.
Rublev won all his matches at the ATP Cup and has continued that run here at the Australian Open. Rublev was off to a slow start against German Yannick Hanfmann, but before too long he was in his element and coasting to a straight sets win.
Although pushed a little again by Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, Rublev recovered quickly to win that in straight sets despite saving set points in the third. In the last two rounds, the Russian has been clinical against Feliciano Lopez and Casper Ruud and looked in ominous form with his trademark running forehand and the rest of his game firing on all fronts.
Although he is yet to win a set in his three matches against Medvedev, Rublev will definitely fancy his chances of pulling off a victory given the form he is in.
Medvedev v Rublev Prediction and Tip
Both players have been in excellent touch since the start of the year and are unbeaten this season thus far. It will be come down to a match of whose better on the day. Expect a tight battle between both, but the more experienced and versatile Medvedev to prevail in four sets.
Tip: Medvedev to win in four sets: 11/4 (bet365)
