The remaining four quarterfinals across the men’s and women’s singles draws will be played today with Nadal and Barty leading the men’s and women’s action. Some of the other top players to take to court will include Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and rising American Jennifer Brady.

All the singles matches will be played at the Rod Laver Arena, starting at 11:00 am  local time starting with world number one Ash Barty in action first up. She will face Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic as Barty aims to make consecutive Australian Open semi-final appearances.

She is the 2019 French Open women’s singles champions looking to add to her title count. Muchova, on the other hand is in her second major quarter-final following the 2019 Wimbledon appearance in the last eight.

Following this match, the day session will continue with the clash of the Americans with number 22 seed Jennifer Brady playing surprise package of the tournament Jessica Pegula. Brady was a semi-finalist at the 2020 US Open and will be looking to match that feat again here in Melbourne.

Daughter of Buffalo Bills owner Terry Pegula, Jessica is in her first ever major quarterfinal and has had quite the run getting here defeating the likes of Azarenka, Stosur, Mladenovic and Svitolina.

Following this match, it will be the turn of the men with the two Next Gen Russians and friends Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev playing each other in the last match of the day time action.  Medevedev leads the head-to-head 3-0 having won their 2020 US Open quarterfinal clash as well.

Both have been on a phenomenal run in recent times with Rublev winning five titles in 2020 and Medvedev winning the Paris Masters and the ATP Tour Finals in London.  They were teammates as they led Russia to the ATP Cup title earlier this month and will now fight for a spot in the final four of the first major of the year.

The only night time match will be the last of the quarter-finals with 2009 Australian Open winner Rafa Nadal playing Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Nadal is in search of an elusive major title #21 that will put him ahead of Roger Federer, where as Tsitsipas will be looking to make a claim on the biggest stage in the sport, something he has not done since his win against Roger Federer in the fourth round here in 2019.
