Ugo Humbert v Norbert Gombos Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the 88th-ranked Gombos and 30th-ranked Humbert at the ATP level, but they have faced off on the Challenger circuit before this.

Humbert Looking to Make the Best of His Form
2020 had been the best year for the French so far in his career, having multiple wins over top 20 players and winning a couple of titles.
Starting the season at the Auckland Open and finishing it as the surprise winner, this turned out to be the first title of his career. On his route to the title, he beat the second seed Denis Shapovalov and the big server John Isner. He defeated his countrymen Benoit Paire in the final.
Humbert also reached the semifinal of the Delray each Open.
At the European Open (Antwerp), Humbert beat Pablo Carreno Busta and Alex de Minaur to win his second title of his career.
He also registered his best result in the Masters 1000 after reaching the quarterfinal at the Paris Masters.
There he overcame the number two seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and the former US Open winner Marin Cilic before losing to Milos Raonic in a close three-setter match after having match points himself.
Ugo Humbert had reached the second round of the Australian Open for the first time in three attempts.
The 29th seed in the event race past the Japanese Yasutaka Uchiyama in the first round and was up against the local hero Nick Kyrgios in the next match. A thriller of a match ended the hopes of the French after the match was ended in the 5th set; the local boy won the match with a score of 6-4 in the fifth set.

Gombos Aiming to End His Run of Losses
Thee ATP season was truncated in 2020 but Gombos had registered his best Grand Slam results after the tour resumed.
At the US Open, he reached the second round (which was his best result then) and then made it to the third round of the French Open (which is his best result now).
He lost against much higher-ranked players, against Marin Cilic at the US Open and Diego Schwartzman at the French Open.
Gombos also reached the third round at the Paris Masters as a qualifier which is his best performance at the Masters 1000. He defeated a former top 10 player David Goffin in straight sets in the second round.
Not having the best of the visits to Australia this year, Gombos lost both first-round matches at the Great Ocean Road Open and the Australian Open, where he lost against Alex Bolt of Australia in four sets.
Humbert v Gombos Prediction and Tip
With the first match between the players, you have to go with the young blood after having a phenomenal 2020. The 22-year old is carrying his good form with him and Gombos is desperately looking to end his run of lean form. Aiming for a Humbert win here.
