Iga Swiatek v Madison Brengle Head to Head
While they have never played on the WTA circuit, their only one meeting on the ITF circuit came in the semifinal of the ITF Charleston competition in 2018. Brengle won that match on clay 6-1, 6-1.
Swiatek sure has come a long way since then.

Swiatek Makes Fourth Round at the Australian Open
Winner at the French Open last year, Swiatek was faced with the prospect of making it two wins in a row over Simona Halep, having earlier dropped just one game to the Romanian in Roland-Garros in 2020.
Swiatek looked to have taken a step in the right direction as well, when she clinched the first set of that encounter. Halep, however, rallied back in fine style to send out the Pole in three sets to enter the last eight.
In getting to the fourth though, Swiatek has now made it that far in back to back editions of the Australian Open, other than that French Open victory. Her record in other tournaments, the WTA 1000s as they are now called, hasn’t been stellar though and she would use a competition like in Adelaide to prepare herself for those still to come.
A strong performance first up from the Pole should work wonders, especially given she could be facing the world number one Ash Barty in a mouth-watering quarterfinals clash.

Struggling Brengle in a Tough Opener
After losing in the first round at the Yarra Valley Classic, the Australian Open tuneup competition held in Melbourne, Brengle did manage to defeat Arina Rodionova in the opener of that major. Fellow American and eventual finalist Jennifer Brady put an end to her campaign in round two.
This was followed by another opening win in Phillip Island Trophy, beating Wang Yafan but despite a fight put up in her next match, the talent of Bianca Andreescu managed to get the better of the American.
In order to qualify for this competition, the former world number 35 has had to feature in the qualifiers, both of which she won with ease but her overall recent struggles have pulled her down to the 81st rank in the world. And against a teenager who has only recently won a Grand Slam title, things wouldn’t be getting any easier for Brengle.
Swiatek v Brengle Prediction and Tip
Swiatek is a runaway favourite for this, and should win it in straight sets. Less than 19.5 games expected.
Tip: Swiatek to win in straight sets: 4/6 (bet365)
