Anastasija Sevastova v Jil Teichmann Head to Head
There have been no previous matches played between the 56th-ranked Sevastova and Teichmann who is 61st in the world.

Latvia’s Sevastova was in a major strife when after an underwhelming last season, she began the new one losing four of the first five matches she played. Her only victory came at the Yarra Valley Classic Open in the lead-up to the season’s first major, and against a struggle Madison Brengle.
An opening round defeat in the Australian Open to Kaia Kanepi and then, another loss at the Phillip Island competition, again in the opener, to Ana Bogdan meant, Sevastova had fallen to 56th in the world by the end of the previous week.
Which is why, with back to back wins in this competition already, it does look like some of her old sparkle has returned. It might be too early, sure, but defeating Caroline Garcia and Christina McHale, both in straight sets, would be a huge confidence-booster for the former world number 11.
And with an opponent who is currently ranked a few spots behind her up against Sevastova, the Latvia would back herself to continue with this momentum.

Teichmann Overturns Slow Start
The slow start has been on two counts for Teichmann. The original came at the start of the season in which she lost in the first round of both, the Gippsland Trophy and the Australian Open.
And the second one was in her match against Wang Qiang where she lost the first set and looked to be in trouble of bowing out.
Both times, Teichmann showed good fight. First, she managed to win three matches in a row at the Phillip Island Trophy before losing to Marie Bouzkova in the quarterfinals.
And here, against Qiang, the Swiss world number 61 came back from being a set down to clinch the encounter 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
The question now is whether Teichmann can continue forward, in an attempt to emulate her title-deciding appearance at the Lexington Open last season. Long way away from there because there’s a small matter of getting past an equally confident opponent here.
Sevastova v Teichmann Prediction and Tip
This is a tough one to call, but on current form spread over the last few months, we will have to go with Teichmann to edge this.
