Alex de Minaur v John Millman Head to Head

The pair have met once before, in Zhuhai in 2019, de Minaur winning in straight sets for the loss of just four games.

De Minaur, Winner in Antalya

De Minaur has already enjoyed success in 2021, winning the Antalya Open, his fourth ATP title, to go with the three he won in 20-19, and ending his losing streak, having been beaten in two finals last year.

He lost his two matches playing for Australia in the ATP Cup alongside Millman, but, nevertheless, went into his home Grand Slam with high hopes of a good run.

De Minaur began the tournament well enough with straight set victories over Tennys Sandgren, and Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay.

But then his hopes were ended by the Italian Fabio Fognini, slipping to a defeat in three sets.

Fognini forged a two set lead, and although de Minaur showed some fight in the third, saving two match points, it was only a temporary reprieve.

Now he is hoping to get his season back on track.

Millman Achieved Maiden Tour Win Last November

After many years on tour as a  professional, Millman finally won his first senior ATP title last November in Kazakhstan, beating Adrian Mannarino in the final of the Astana Open in Nur-Sultan.

He followed that up by reaching the quarter-finals in Sofia, and that would have given him confidence going into 2021 that he could continue his good form.

Millman had mixed fortunes in the ATP Cup, winning one but losing his other match whilst playing for Australia.

However, he suffered a major disappointment at the Australian Open, beaten in the first round by Corentin Moutet of France, despite leading by two sets to one at one stage.

Last week in Singapore, after being given a bye in the first round, he suffered another bad defeat, losing to fellow Australian Matthew Ebden, a man ranked 277 places below him in the world, in straight sets.

Ebden claimed the only break in the first set and Millman’s game fell apart in the second set, and he was broken three more times.

De Minaur v Millman Prediction and Tip

De Minaur won their only previous encounter and will be the favourite to do so again, as both men look to shrug off the disappointment of the Australian Open.

Tip: De Minaur to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
