Stefanos Tsitsipas v Lucas Pouille Head to Head
This will be the second meeting between both players. Their only meeting was in 2018 on the grass courts of Halle, which Tsitsipas won in straight sets.

Tsitsipas Begins Quest For Three- Pete
The season thus far is young, but Stefanos Tsitsipas has been on an impressive run already. Winning both his matches at the ATP Cup, the world number six made it to the final eight at the Australian Open where he defeated world number two Rafael Nadal after being down two sets to love, before a straight sets defeat in the semi-finals at the hands of Daniil Medvedev.
He had a good run at the Rotterdam ATP 500 last week as well, making the semi-finals before losing to the in-form red hot Andrey Rublev who went on to win his fourth consecutive ATP 500 tournament. With a 10-2 record for the year, Tsitsipas is back in the top five of the ATP rankings, narrowly overtaking Roger Federer who has been out of action for 14 months now, returning this week incidentally.
For the past two years, Tsitsipas has dominated the proceedings here in Marseille winning both years, with eight straight wins and 16 consecutive sets. Alongside Marc Rosset and Thomas Enqvist he became only the third player to win back-to-back titles here at Marseille and will this year aim to become the first to win a hat-trick of titles here. With a stacked draw here with the likes of Daniil Medvedev, Karen Khachanov, Ugo Humbert and others, Tsitsipas will be aware of the hurdles that lie between him and the Three-Pete here.

Pouille On Comeback Trail After Long Lay-Off
Although only twenty-seven years of age, Lucas Pouille has been on the tour for a few years now and can almost be thought of as a veteran on the tour. A three-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, Pouille made the final four at the 2019 Australian Open and was ranked in the top ten in the world during the mid-late 2018 timeframe.
With plenty of flair in his game, Pouille was earmarked for great things, with victories like the sort against Rafa Nadal at the 2016 US Open. However, repeated injuries resulting in long absences from the tour, indifferent form and the like has seen a decline in the Frenchman’s game.
With a woeful late 2019 and 2020 with injuries and lack of match practice, Pouille dropped out of the top 80 in the rankings and has been making his comeback this year through the ATP Challenger Tour. A first round loss at Montpellier was disappointing but he will be pleased to have finally won a match since October 2019, i.e. his opener here this week and look to slowly make his way back into form and match confidence.
Tsitsipas v Pouille Prediction and Tip
This match is a clash of two players with immense talent, but both are in very different places right now with their game. While Pouille is on a comeback, Tsitsipas has been on a good run this year already. Given that, it looks difficult for Pouille to cause too many problems for the Greek just yet, who should prevail with ease.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 1/3 (bet365)
