This will be the first matchup between the 34-year-old Frenchman and the 28-year-old Italian.

Gasquet Searching for Rhythm in Stop-Start Season
World No. 50 Richard Gasquet will be playing his third match of the year on Monday, and he comes into the tournament with a 1-1 record.
The 34-year-old, who has been hampered by a back injury this season, got his first win of the year in Marseille this week, when he eased past Slovenian qualifier Blaz Rola in the first round. The Frenchman, however, pulled out of his Round-of-16 match against Russia’s Andriy Rublev.
A three-time Grand Slam semifinalist, Gasquet made a first-round exit from his season opener at the Murray River Open in February, after he was handed a straight sets defeat by America’s Mackenzie McDonald.
Since then, injury kept the 31-time ATP finalist away from the courts, until he made a comeback in Marseille, which was also cut short by injury.
A 15-time champion on the tour, Gasquet won his last title in ‘S-Hertogenbosch in 2018. He was 10-10 last year, reaching the semifinals in Sofia and quarterfinals in Montpellier and Dubai.

Cecchinato Struggling to Close Out Matches
Facing Gasquet in the first round will be Italy’s Marco Cecchinato, who comes into the contest on the back of three consecutive defeats.
The 28-year-old Italian, who made a stunning run to the semifinals of the French Open in 2018, is a clay-court specialist, but has struggled on his favourite surface this year, returning from the South American clay court season with a 1-3 record.
Having made first round exits at the Murray River Open and the Australian Open last month, the 2019 Argentina Open champion headed to South America with hopes getting into some sort of form, however, he just managed one win from three tournaments.
Defeating Hugo Dellien of Bolivia, the three-time ATP winner notched his first win of the season and reached the second round of the Cordoba Open, but lost to Diego Schwartzmann in straight sets.
At the Argentina Open, the Italian took the first set against Serbia’s Laslo Djere, but failed to close out the contest, bowing out of the first round.
The trend continued at the Chile Open this week, when Cecchinato won the first set against Facundo Bagnis, but ended up losing the match after the Argentine fought back to take the contest.
Cecchinato, who is 1-5 this season, had finished 2020 with an 8-13 win-loss record, finishing runner-up in Sardinia and reaching the third round of the French Open and the Rome Masters.
Gasquet v Cecchinato Prediction and Tip
While Gasquet has produced results on all surfaces over the last 20 seasons, Cecchinato has clearly struggled on hard courts, so, if the Frenchman is fully fit, expect him to ease into the next round.
Tip: Gasquet to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
