Alexander Zverev v Carlos Alcaraz Head to Head
There have been no previous meetings between Zverev and Alcaraz, who is ranked 132nd in the world.

Zverev Wouldn’t Be Happy with His Start
Sure, Zverev made it as far as the quarterfinal at the Australian Open earlier last month and even there, the defeat to the world number one and eventual winner Novak Djokovic was after a gruelling four-setter. His results otherwise, however, haven’t been too much to write home about and that means he enters this competition on a 5-4 win-loss record for the season.
Not the kind of record for someone who wants to break the Big Three hold and is also aspiring to go on to win a major very soon.
At the ATP Cup earlier this year, Zverev seemed to have made a positive start with a three-set win over the tricky Denis Shapovalov, but then fell to Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev. The worst of his results this season, however, came in Rotterdam where Zverev lost in straight sets to Alexander Bublik in the very first round.
A finalist at this tournament in 2019, Zverev will hope to shrug off those results and crunch out a solid tournament but for that he will need to let the tennis do the talking than the below.
Sascha Zverev complains about frozen ATP rankings: “I am the biggest Roger Federer’s fan but he has not played for a year and he is higher ranked than me. I played a Grand Slam final, a Masters 1000 final. The system is just a disaster.” (Via @marifermora90 )

17-Year-Old Alcaraz One to Watch
He is all of 17 years in age and has already dished out a solid performance this season. The Spaniard made it to the main draw of the Australian Open by winning three qualifiers and then won his first round match on his Grand Slam debut there, beating Botic Van De Zandschulp in his opener.
His best result, however, came at the Great Ocean Road Open just prior to the season’s first major when he shocked David Goffin in the second round of that tournament before losing to Thiago Monteiro in the third.
Alcaraz didn’t make it past the first qualifying hurdle in Montpellier though and then lost in the second round of the Gran Canaria Challenger in Spain before embarking on this journey in Mexico.
With two Futures and three Challenger tournament wins in 2020 itself, Alcaraz is clearly one for the future but can he get anywhere close to Zverev in this one? Seems unlikely unless the German presses the self-destruct button.
Zverev v Alcaraz Prediction and Tip
Despite Zverev’s recent runs, he looks like a favourite to clinch this in straight sets, but we could look at the games handicap market here.
Tip: Games Handicap Alcaraz +4.5: 5/6 (bet365)
