Stefanos Tsitsipas v Benoit Paire Head to Head
The head to head tally is currently tied at 1-1, with Tsitsipas winning their last meeting in the 2019 ATP Washington.
Paire’s sole win over the Greek came back in the 2017 ATP Metz.

Tsitsipas Starting as the Top Seed in Acapulco
2021 could not have started on a better note for the 22-year-old Tsitsipas. Currently ranked World No. 5 – his best singles ranking yet, his win-loss tally is 10-3 and the youngster is now on the prowl for his sixth singles title.
Playing as the top seed in Acapulco will definitely make his life easier although, the likes of Alexander Zverev, Milos Raonic, and Diego Schwartzman are also a part of this 500 Series event.
Tsitsipas has had a brilliant run so far this season, reaching the semifinal in two of his last three tournaments on the tour. His first breakthrough came in the Australian Open where he beat Rafael Nadal in the quarters, only to lose to Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal. A few weeks later, he had another similar run – this time in the ATP Rotterdam where he succumbed to Andrey Rublev in the final four.
Most recently, he played in ATP 250 Marseille where he was a three-time defending champion. However, he lost to Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the quarterfinals.
The Greek has cemented his position in the top 10, having spent the last couple of seasons making small moves in the pecking order. He leads the way for the next generation players and is definitely a formidable opponent. Last season, he won the Open 13 title in France and later reached the final in the German Open and Dubai Championships.

Paire Mired in Losses and Sadness
In his own words, Benoit Paire is not really enjoying tennis at the moment and that has caused his form to plummet dramatically.
The 31-year-old took to Instagram after losing to Holger Vitus Nodskov Rune in his opening match in the ATP Santiago last week. Paire expressed his disappointment with the ATP circuit which has “become sad, boring, and ridiculous” on account of new protocols. He admitted that playing in empty stadiums has led to tennis “become a tasteless job” for him.
Moreover, it is not a matter of winning or losing for Paire anymore, as much as rediscovering the joy in sport.
The Frenchman has lost six matches this season while winning only one. That defeat in Chile to the Danish player was his third consecutive one on the circuit. He has been beaten in the early rounds previously in the ATP Buenos Aires and Cordoba. Even in the Australian Open and ATP Cup, he failed to bag a single win.
Currently ranked #31, Paire is a promising player who has a lot to deliver but is currently going through a crisis of his own. We cannot fault him for it, given the strenuous conditions and mental toll these new norms are bound to take on any player. That said, he will have a tough time facing Tsitsipas with this mindset.
Tsitsipas vs Paire Prediction and Tip
Expect the Greek to advance in straight sets.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win 2-0: 1/1 (bet365)
