Filip Krajinovic v Lloyd Harris Head to Head

Krajinovic and Harris have never played each other before this.

Krajinovic Comes Up Trumps against Fokina

It took Krajinovic all of an hour and 21 minutes to come away a winner in his second round match against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, clinching the tie 7-5, 6-4.

The first set went on serve for most part till Krajinovic extracted two break-points of his opponent in the 11th game and converted the second. The reverse happened in the second set though.

Krajinovic, in a wave of confidence from having won the first set, broke Fokina in the very first game of the second and never lost his serve again to complete a clinical win. What was interesting to note was that Krajinovic faced four break-points in the entire match and saved all of them while he himself got just three and availed of two of them.

The Serb, with a career-high ranking of 26th in the world, had earlier fallen to David Goffin in the first round in Doha, having made it to the third round at the Australian Open in the only other tournaments he had played before this.

With some of his rhythm back, Krajinovic will fancy his chances against a player who took out an injured Dominic Thiem.

Harris Extends Good Form

South Africa’s Harris has never seen better than a ranking of 72nd in the world but the manner in which he has played this season so far, he could well break that ceiling. And soon.

Because after having gotten dumped out in the first round at the Murray River Open, which was also his first appearance this year, he made it to the third round at the Australian Open and then qualified for ATP Doha before entering round two there.

However, his best result has come here in Dubai where as a qualifier, Harris first sent out Christopher O’Connell and then in the stunner of the season, defeated Dominic Thiem in straight sets in round two.

The match lasted all of an hour and 13 minutes, and saw Harris get four break-points of which he used up two – one in each set. But more shockingly, Harris took full advantage of Thiem’s fitness woes and didn’t allow him even a single break-point in the entire match.

If that’s the kind of form he can continue in this match against Krajinovic as well, Harris would think he has a good chance of going the distance.

Krajinovic v Harris Prediction and Tip

Harris is 6/5 to win this on account of an inferior ranking but we reckon he has the game to surprise Krajinovic. Expecting Harris to win a set at least.

Tip: Harris to win a set: 1/2 (bet365)
