Stefanos Tsitsipas v Felix Auger-Aliassime Head to Head
This has been an interesting rivalry. Both players have won two matches apiece of the four they have played, but it was Auger-Aliassime who won in their first two meetings, and Tsitsipas retaliated with victories in their next two.
The first three of their matches came in 2019 with the Auger-Aliassime victories coming at the Indian Wells and ATP Queen’s that year while Tsitsipas defeated him in the second round at the Shanghai Masters that season. In 2020 they met again, but this time in the final of the Marseille Open where the Greek carved out a straight-set victory.
It was one of the multiple times Auger-Aliassime has lost in the final of an ATP tournament, having yet to win a title.

Tsitsipas Tames Isner
Having crushed Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-1 in the first round of the tournament, Tsitsipas wasted no time in taming John Isner in the second round of the Acapulco Open to seal his last eight berth. Tsitsipas won 6-3, 6-2 in less than an hour to continue his march towards a first title of the season.
All it took was one break of serve in the first set for Tsitsipas to take control and that came in the very second game of the encounter. If Isner thought he could break back, there was no chance of it happening as Tsitsipas won 20 of the 22 points on his own serve in the entire set.
The story was no different in the second set when Tsitsipas faced no break-points en route winning 16 of the 19 points on his serve, but then took a 4-0 lead with two breaks of his own. The match would have seen one lesser game had Tsitsipas won one of the two match-points on Isner’s serve but then served out easily to complete the rout.
He would expect somewhat of a better fight in his quarterfinal.

Auger-Aliassime Cordons off Korda
Sebastian Korda is one of the younger players to watch out and his record in recent times has been one to beckon. The manner in which, however, Auger-Aliassime finished him off in their second round encounter will give the Canadian a lot of confidence and hope for this next match.
Auger-Aliassime killed off the American’s chances with a 6-4, 6-3 win in an hour and 39 minutes, with three breaks of serve in the entire match. Korda did manage one break of his own but it was a matter of too little, too late anyway.
Incidentally, much like Tsitsipas, Auger-Aliassime had also come into this match with a straight-set win in his first round match against Tennys Sandgren.
He will now have a monumental task of dismantling the Greek’s confidence but having done so twice in his career already, he could well have a chance of doing so.
Tsitsipas v Auger-Aliassime Prediction and Tip
While Tsitsipas is 2/5 to win this one, Auger-Aliassime kick-starts at 2/1 to pocket this one. We believe that while Auger-Aliassime has the talent to push his higher-ranked opponent, Tsitsipas will be a favourite to register a straight-setter.
Tip: Tsitsipas to win in straight sets: 1/1 (bet365)
