Svetlana Kuznetsova v Daria Kasatkina Head to Head
This will be the first ever match between the world number 39 Kuznetsova and the 61st-ranked Kasatkina.

Kuznetsova Overturns Set Deficit
In the end it was Kuznetsova’s experience that trumped 22-year-old Jaqueline Cristian’s youth. Cristian had overturned a break of serve in the first set to take it into a tie-breaker, in which she then came back from 2-5 down to win the next five points and claim the set.
And then when she broke Kuznetsova in the first game of the second set, it looked like Cristian had found a formula to break her opponent’s resolve.
Kuznetsova is made of sterner stuff though and that shone through. From there on, there were four breaks of serves in the match and all of them belonged to Kuznetsova as she first levelled things off in the second before breaking to make it a set apiece and then ran away with back to back breaks of serve to clinch the encounter.
The world number 31 had earlier got a first round bye and then defeated Xinyu Wang 6-1, 7-5 to qualify for the quarterfinals.

Kasatkina Edges Past Kudermetova
In an all-Russian quarterfinal, Kasatkina also lost the first set of her match to Veronika Kudermetova but came back strongly in the next two to claim her semifinal berth.
The first 23 minutes of that contest looked to be headed just one way as Kudermetova ran amok and broke Kasatkina twice to clinch the set 6-1. Kasatkina found a different resolve in the second set even as Kudermetova’s game fell away, breaking her opponent twice on her first two serves to go 5-0 up.
Eventually she won the set 6-1 as well, and any hopes of a fighting third set were lost when Kasatkina then broke her opponent twice to open the set.
There was no fightback from the now-struggling Kudermetova who caved in to give Kasatkina a strangely easy three-set win.
Kasatkina had earlier stunned Clara Tauson in straight sets, before needing three sets against Aliksandra Sasnovich which went into a final set tie-breaker to make it to the last eight. Battle-hardened now after having played back to back three-setters, she sure would look to give her more illustrious opponent a run for her money.
Kuznetsova v Kasatkina Prediction and Tip
Kasatkina starts off a favourite at 8/15 but Kuznetsova, with all those years of experience isn’t one to be trifled with. We expect Kuznetsova to take the match to her opposition.
Tip: Kuznetsova to win a set – Yes: 4/7 (bet365)
