Mikhail Kukushkin v Jack Draper Head to Head

Four ATP and two Challenger competitions into this year, Kukushkin has won just one main draw match and that had come in the Murray River Open earlier this season. He overcame Juan Londero in the opening round of that tournament, his first of the season, and from there on things have all gone downhill for him.
A second round defeat to Stan Wawrinka followed soon after, and from there on, he has lost at the Australian Open, Marseille Open and ATP Dubai, all in the opening round,
In between this, Kukushkin has also featured in a couple of Challenger competitions, in Nur-Sultan and fallen in the openers there as well. As a result of that, Kukushkin, who had begun the season ranked 89th in the world, has now fallen to 105th, about 40 places behind his best ranking since the beginning of 2020.
What Kukushkin needs is a run of form where he can start winning his opening and second round matches on a consistent basis. The good news for him is he starts off against a player whose career-best ranking is 283rd in the world.

Wild-Card Draper in Main Draw Debut
A 2018 Wimbledon Boys’ Singles runner-up, Britain’s Draper has won seven Futures titles in his career, which has helped him break into the top 300 of the rankings. Currently ranked 316th in the world, Draper will feature in what would be his first ever main draw match at the senior level.
He enters this tournament on the back of having played a couple of Challenger competitions and Futures events.
At the Potchefstroom Challenger early in February, Draper failed to qualify for the main draw while in the second tournament played in the same city, he managed to make it to the main draw but lost in the first round there.
Draper would have liked to have some more form under his belt coming into this but will be glad he could have bit of a chance against a player who is himself struggling for form.
