Kecmanovic Adds Nalbandian to His team

Miomir Kecmanovic sounds like the outspoken and extrovert player, judging from his post match interviews. On the tennis court, there is an element of emotion that is sometimes missing.

And now, the Serbian young gun has called upon the former world no.3 David Nalbandian to spark him into flames, as a part-time coach. Kecmanovic bubbles with potential, and hasn’t quite burst it despite securing a maiden ATP title in Kitzbuhel last season.

The 21-year-old Next Gen star has added the services of the Argentine on a trial period, with their working relationship beginning at the South American swing.

Kecmanovic’s progress has been rather slow as compared to his contemporaries. He is yet to nail down a top 40 spot despite breaking into it a few weeks ago. He is currently 6-6 for the season: making the quarterfinals at the Great Ocean Road Open, and the semifinals in Buenos Aires, losing both times to the eventual champion.

Broady Handed Tough Opener

Among the four Brits in the main draw of the Miami Open, Liam Broady has been handed what appears to be the most difficult assignment on paper in the first round.

Broady needed to navigate his way past the qualifying rounds, beating Shang Juncheng and Federico Gaio in three sets to reach the main draw of the one biggest events on the tennis calendar. The 27-year-old from Stockport has had an eventful start to the year.

From the misfortune of missing out at the Australian Open main draw (after losing in qualies), to reaching two Challenger finals, all in the space of of 30 days. Broady has seen his ranking vault almost 60 places in the past year. It is a commendable effort considering the impact of coronavirus pandemic on the rankings, making it harder to move up.

At this juncture, you would empathize with him for losing all seven Challenger finals he has played in, the most recent coming in Biella, Italy, a couple of weeks ago.

Regardless of Thursday’s result against Kecmanovic, Broady is expected to surpass his career-best ranking of world no.154 he set in 2018.

Kecmanovic v Broady Prediction and Tip

Broady has been in fine form on the Challengers, sweeping all his opponents, but continues to stumble in the final hurdle. The Brit is riding on a wave of confidence right now, but Kecmanovic is no slouch at this level and is a significant upgrade.

Tip: Kecmanovic to win in straight sets: 4/5 (bet365)
