Jan-Lennard Struff v Ricardas Berankis Head to Head
The pair have met twice before on the senior tour, Struff winning on both occasions, in Munich in 2016, and at Indian Wells two years ago. Furthermore, the German won both their matches on the junior tours as well.

Struff Gets an Opening Round Bye
Struff received a first-round bye in Miami, although it is not a tournament where he has enjoyed much success in the past a run to the third round in 2017 the best he has achieved.
The German has not had the best of years so far, although he did win two out of three matches playing for his country in the ATP Cup.
That though was followed by a string of first round defeats – at the Australian Open, in Montpellier and then in Rotterdam.
He stopped the rot by beating Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan in the opening round of Dubai, but normal service was then resumed with another straight sets defat to Dennis Shapovalov.
A win over Berankis would give his confidence a much-needed boost.

Berankis Overcomes Lucky Loser
Berankis travelled to Florida well-rested after not playing since Melbourne, where he reached the third round of the Murray River Open warm-up event, and then, having beaten Sumit Nagal of India, lost in the second round of the Australian Open, going down to a straight sets defeat to Karen Khachanov.
In the first round in Miami he was drawn, on Wednesday, against a lucky loser in the form of Federico Gaio of Italy, the world 142.
The Lithuanian began well, and was serving for the first set at 5 -2 with two breaks to his name when he wobbled and allowed the Italian to fight back, resulting in the set going to a breaker. He secured the only point against the serve o take the advantage.
He tightened -up his game in the second set, particularly on serve, cutting out the unforced errors. He broke Gaio and then, with the Italian serving to stay in the match, broke him again.
Struff v Berankis Prediction and Tip
Struff has beaten Berankis every time they have played, and it would be a major surprise I f the outcome were any different this time.
