Basilashvili, the Winner of ATP Dubai
Basilashvili is still celebrating after winning his fourth ATP career title in Doha, a win that probably surprised him as much as anybody else, in that it came after a sequence of poor results, including a first round loss to Tommy Paul of the United States at the Australian Open.
However, he beat Roberto Bautista-Agut in the final in Qatar, after defeating Taylor Fritz at the semi-final stage.
The American though did not have long to wait to exact his revenge – he beat him in the first round in Dubai last week, in a tight match decided by a third-set tie-breaker.
The Georgian will have warm memories of this tournament – he reached the fourth round here in 2019, the last time the event was played, losing eventually to Felix Augur-Aliassime. That remains his best performance in a Masters’ event.
He will do well to emulate that this year – if he beats Ymer, he faces a potential match with Alexander Zverev in the third round.

Ymer Reached Third Round in Melbourne
Ymer is into the second round in Miami for the second time, having previously reached this stage in 2018. That remains his best ever performance in a Masters’ event.
However, he di earn plaudits earlier this year when he got to the third round of the Australian Open, before he was well beaten by Stefanos Tsitsipas.
In his only tournament since then prior to Florida he was thrashed in the first round in Montpellier by Jiri Vesely.
In the first round here, he was drawn against Chilean wildcard Alejandra Tabilo, the world 167, beating him with comparative ease.
He took the first set for the loss of three games, dropping just four points on his own serve.
He did face a break point on his serve in the second set, but saved it and breezed through the rest of the match, which lasted barely more than an hour.
