Petra Kvitova v Johanna Konta Head to Head
This is an interesting battle with Kvitova only leading Konta 3-2 on head to head. Three of those matches came on grass where Konta leads 2-1 while on hard court surfaces, it’s 2-0 in favour of Kvitova.

An injury to Kvitova during the WTA Dubai ended her campaign in the very first round there and the Czech later admitted her issues had started at the competition on Doha the previous week. While she had gone on to win the title there, her withdrawal from the Dubai tournament meant there would have been some concerns for her coming into the Miami Open.
Kvitova showed none of those issues, as she ran past Frenchwoman Alize Cornet 6-0, 6-4 to seal her third round berth. Needing just an hour and five minutes on the court, Kvitova was merciless on her opponent, breaking Cornet to love three times in a row in the opening set.
It was only in the second set that Cornet began to show signs of recovery as she took it to 2-2 before Kvitova broke two more times. And while Cornet pulled one of those breaks back, Kvitova sealed the deal by serving out to love in the 10th game of the second set.
She now faces an opponent who has never beaten her on hard court surfaces.

Konta Eases Into Round Three after Slow Start
It has been a slow start to the season for Konta alright, having lost three of the first four matches she played coming into the Miami Open. Which is why, Magda Linette, her second round opponent following a first round bye, would have given herself a chance to test the Briton.
Which is what she did too, except that Konta had an answer to all that was posed to her by Linette.
In the first set, Konta broke Linette in the ninth game and then had to save two break-points of her own while serving for the set before clinching the opener. The second set looked to be headed the Briton’s way when she went 2-0 up but Linette equalised in the sixth game.
With a tie-breaker looming, Konta upped the ante and won eight points in a row including four off her opponent’s serve to close out the encounter.
Can she now push Kvitova and make it 3-3 on the head to head?
Kvitova v Konta Prediction and Tip
While Kvitova would be expected to be a favourite here, it’s interesting to see she is a whopping 1/4 favourite to beat Konta. Konta’s recent record isn’t much to write home but we do think the British player can be expected to put up a fight here.
