Djere Eases Past Millman
Serbia’s Laslo Djere needed just an hour and 30 minutes to beat Australia’s John Millman 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 16 to reach his third quarterfinal of the year.
The Serb got just 49% of his first serves right, but won 72% first serve points and 65% second serve points. The World No 57 got broken just twice in the match while breaking the World No. 44 Aussie on four occasions to improve to 7-7 this year.
Djere had also needed just two sets to win his opening round match against Italy’s Federico Gaio. Converting four of 23 break point opportunities, the Serb defeated the Italian 6-4, 6-2 in an hour and 37 minutes.
Having made a 0-3 start to the year, losing in the first rounds in Antalya, Adelaide and the Australian Open, Djere found some form on clay, reaching back-to-back quarterfinals at the Argentina Open and the Chile Open.
Back on the hard courts in Mexico and Miami, Djere lost in the Round of 16 and the Round of 64 respectively.

Musetti Knocks Out the Top Seed
He is only 19, but Lorenzo Musetti is making heads turn with his ability to defeat big names at the highest level. On Thursday, it was World No. 32 Daniel Evans’ turn to be on the receiving end.
The youngest player currently in the top-100 in the world, the World No. 90 Musetti saved four match points against the top seed before closing out the contest and reaching his second quarterfinal at the senior level this year.
The 6-1, 1-6, 7-6 (10-8) win in two hours and 10 minutes was Musetti’s seventh victory against a top 35 player and 12th in a young career.
The Italian, who had last month stunned the world with his run to the semifinals in Acapulco, which included wins over Diego Schwartzmann, Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov, had two runner-up finishes at Challenger events earlier this year.
He had begun the Cagliari campaign with a 6-0, 6-1 rout of Dennis Novak in the first round. Dominating the match from start to finish, Musetti saved all three break points that he faced, and broke the Austrian six times in the match to win it in 53 minutes.
Djere v Musetti Prediction and Tip
Djere will be wary of the local boy’s ability to punch above his weight, more so after the Italian took out the top seed in the previous round. However, the Serb is far more experienced on clay and has an impressive 49-28 record on the surface. He will be the favourite to win the contest and advance.
Tip: Djere to win: 11/10 (bet365)
