Gael Monfils v Pablo Andujar Head to Head
Monfils leads Andujar four to nothing on the ATP tour, having beaten him twice on clay between 2010 and 2013. Their last meeting came at the US Open 2019 where Monfils won in straight sets to make it to the quarterfinals.

Monfils Resumes Tennis after Break
A former world number six, Monfils has played just two matches all season and lost both. The first came at the ATP Cup where Matteo Berrettini crushed him in straight sets, before Emil Ruusuvuori overcame the Frenchman in a five-setter in the opener at the Australian Open.
Interestingly, Monfils comes into this tournament not just rusty from having not played too much tennis all season, he also last won a match on clay in 2019. That win came at the 2019 French Open where Monfils reached the fourth round.
Last season, all his three matches had resulted in a defeat – at the Rome Masters, Hamburg Open and then at the French Open.
What Monfils would hope for is a change of fortunes, for him to start afresh and kick-start his season. Can he get past a player ranked 70th in the world at this stage but one who has had a lot of experience on clay over the last two seasons.

Andujar Makes Quarterfinal in Buenos Aires
Unlike Monfils, Andujar has played in a couple of clay court tournaments this season, winning two matches and losing as many.
His top result came at the Buenos Aires, where he defeated Juan Londero and Gianluca Mager in the first two rounds – both clay-courters in their own right. Unfortunately for Andujar, he was then knocked out from the Santiago Open in the first round, losing to Daniel Galan.
Earlier in the season, Andujar featured in three tournaments, showing rustiness as he crashed out of the Delray Beach Open and Great Ocean Road Open in the first round and the second round of the Australian Open at the hands of Filipp Krajinovic.
Can the Spaniard now get past his opponent who is of a way higher quality but struggling to make things happen this season?
Monfils v Andujar Prediction and Tip
Andujar will be a favourite here according to the bookmakers and that shouldn’t surprise too many given how drastically Monfils’ stocks have fallen in recent times. Backing the Spaniard to eke out a victory here.
Tip: Andujar to win: 8/11 (bet365)
