John Millman v Ugo Humbert Head to Head
The pair have met once before, in the first round of the Australian Open last year. Millman had won that match in four sets.

Millman Has an Underwhelming Record on Clay
Millman has only competed once before in Monte Carlo, losing in the first round two years ago. Clay, though, is not his favourite surface as evidenced by his record in the French Open – he has yet to win a match in his five visits.
Away from clay, however, after more than 14 years on tour, he won his maiden ATP event in Kazakhstan last November.
Unfortunately for him, so far, he has failed to carry that sort of form into 2021. Playing for Australia he beat Yohshihito Nishioka of Japan, but then lost got Andrey Rublev of Russia.
He then went on to lose to compatriot Matthew Ebden of his home Grand Slam in Melbourne, and that began a sequence in which he lost his next four matches.
He ended that run with a win in the first round in Sardinia last week, but then he was knocked out by the Serb Laslo Djere.

Humbert in His First Time in Monte Carlo
This is Humbert’s first appearance at Monte Carlo. The last time the tournament was played, his world ranking was not good enough to earn him a place in the main draw.
He has come a long way since then, with 2020 representing a breakthrough year, as he won his first two senior ATP tiles either side of lockdown in Auckland and Antwerp. He also reached the third round of the Paris Masters.
This year he has endured mixed fortunes, reaching the second round of the Australian Open only to lose five set battle to Nick Kyrgios.
He went on to reach the third round on home soil in Montpellier and Marseille, before travelling to Miami. There he beat Joao Sousa of Portugal, before losing to Milos Raonic.
Millman v Humbert Prediction and Tip
Based on world ranking, the surface, and the fact that Humbert is virtually playing on home soil, along with the kind of form Millman has shown so far in 2021, it looks like Humbert should edge this contest.
Tip: Humbert to win: 1/2 (bet365)
