Cristian Garin v John Millman Head to Head
The pair have never met before on the ATP tour. Considering, this would be their first meeting, Garin would have a little edge over Millman because the Australian’s game isn’t suited to the slower clay courts of Monte Carlo.
Moreover, at 6-feet Millman’s height isn’t an advantage either as he lacks the ability to engage his rivals in long rallies, which is extremely vital for winning matches on the red dirt.

Millman Downs Humbert
Despite his disdain for red clay, Millman opened his Monte Carlo campaign in fine fashion as he downed Ugo Humbert of France 6-3, 6-3 in a match that lasted a shade under one and a half hours.
The lanky Australian, who is known as a giant slayer in tennis circles, especially after he knocked out 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer in the fourth round of the US Open in 2018, was clinical in every department of the game against his French rival in the Principality.
By reaching the second round, Millman has achieved his best ever result in Monte Carlo. Before his victory over Humbert on Tuesday, his best performance in the tournament was making it through to the first round in 2019.

Garin Comes Back From Behind
Millman would be up against Cristian Garin, a player, who is extremely confident of his abilities right now. In spite of his new found confidence, Garin was in a spot of bother early on in his first round encounter against Felix Auger-Aliassime as he trailed the 20-year-old Canadian 2-4 in the opening set.
However, the rain came to his rescue as the match was suspended on Monday. When play resumed on Tuesday, the Chilean raised his level and moved into the second round without wasting much time on the court.
Garin, a five-time title holder on clay put up a masterclass as he won 11 of the 14 games on Tuesday and also benefitted from the 28 unforced errors committed by Auger-Aliassime to eventually accomplish a 7-6, 6-1 triumph.
With his victory over Auger-Aliassime, Garin improved his record on the red dirt to 5-1 in 2021. Additionally, his title winning run in his home tournament at the Chile Dove Men+Care Open in Santiago has been the highlight of the season so far.
Millman v Garin Prediction and Tip
Garin will enter the match as the heavy favourite as he has been a highly consistent player than Millman of late. If that wasn’t enough, clay is Garin’s preferred surface, while Millman tends to struggle on the red dirt. Expecting Garin to win in straight sets here.
Tip: Garin to win in straight sets: 5/6 (bet365)
