Siniakova Enters Clay Swing With No Form
It’s been a kind of a start for Siniakova that would have, under normal circumstances, seen her plummet badly in her rankings. Instead the latest, tweaked system has allowed her to stay within touching distance of her best-ever ranking, a current ranking of 69th in the world to her best of 31st.
Her results this season have left a lot to desire.
Siniakova began with back to back defeats, losing her openers at the Grampians Trophy and Australian Open, and while she managed to win one qualifying round in Doha, she fell in the second and failed to even qualify for the main draw there.
Her only main draw win this year has come at the St. Petersburg Open where she defeated Kirsten Flipkens in her opener but followed that up with successive defeas again.
The Czech player had a solid showing on clay last season and with one of her two career titles having come on dirt, it’s not a surface that makes her life difficult. She will hope, instead, it makes her life a lot easier this year.

Bucsa, More of an ITF Doubles Player
Bucsa made it to the main draw of this competition with a couple of victories over Dalila Jakupovic and Jaqueline Cristian but will now be gunning for a rare main draw victory on the WTA circuit.
The last time she won a match like that was at the Prague Open where she reached the third round only to lose to Nadia Podoroska.
What’s more interesting is Bucsa also relishes playing on clay having played most of her tennis last season on that surface. In fact she was a semifinalist at one of the ITF tournaments on clay where she fell to Podoroska again and in two of the exhibition competitions held duing the pandemic break Bucsa managed to make it toe the final twice.
It was hosted on clay again.
Which is why Bucsa could be expected to give Siniakova a solid fight.
Siniakova v Bucsa Prediction and Tip
While Siniakova is a favourite she will still start as long as 1/2 to win this and we can back her to carve out a scrappy win.
Tip: Siniakova to win: 1/2 (bet365)
