Viktorija Golubic v Nuria Párrizas Díaz Head to Head

Sure, she hasn’t played at the highest level this year in all her tournaments, but Golubic would be rather pleased with the way her season has gone so far.
Other than losing in the second qualifying round at the Australian Open, Golubic has reached the final of four of the five competitions she has played in and finished a losing semifinalist in the fifth.
What began as a solid run on the ITF circuit has now become a full-blown form surge on the WTA circuit as well, with Golubic making it to the final at both, the Lyon Open and the Monterrey Open. In both those competitions she had started out as a qualifier, losing only to Clara Tauson and Leylah Fernandez in the title-deciders.
Clay will bring with it a different challenge, with Golubic having not played a match on this surface this year and having last won a main draw match at the Lugano Open in 2019. Form, however, will play a part, especially in these early stages and she would look to build on that as the competition gets tougher.

Párrizas Díaz at Her Career-Best
Párrizas Díaz began the season ranked 226th in the world, and now three months and something into the season she has improved to 159th on the WTA charts.
This career-best ranking has been thanks to her performances on the ITF circuit, with Párrizas Díaz winning three, back to back titles on that circuit. That was followed by a switch over to the WTA tour, where as a qualifier Párrizas Díaz made it as far as the quarterfinal, which included a win over Arantxa Rus.
And now, playing in her second WTA tournament of the season, Párrizas Díaz has won back to back qualifying wins and will now hope to build on that.
Unfortunately for her, she is up against a player who has herself shown similar form and at the highest level, which makes her job a lot tougher.
Golubic v Párrizas Díaz Prediction and Tip
Golubic, understandably, is a favourite at 1/2 but we won’t be discounting her opponent and could see this match going the distance. Three-setter expected.
