Jaume Munar v Thiago Monteiro Head to Head
The players have met once so far, in 2020 at the Argentina Open where Monteiro prevailed comfortably in straight sets.

Munar Looking To Continue Clay Success
Jaume Munar’s clay court season did not get off to the best of starts with an early loss at the Cordoba Open. While the Argentina and Chile Opens brought better results for the young Spaniard, for an up and rising protege on the slower dirt, Munar’s results were sitll underwhelming.
Munar warmed-up for the Andalucia Open couple weeks ago, by reaching the final of a Challenger event in Marbella prior and got well accustomed to the conditions and there has been no looking back since.
The Spaniard was a finalist in Marbella at the ATP 250 last week, registered some noteworthy wins, none more so than against the 2019 Monte Carlo Masters 1000 champion, Fabio Fognini in very convincing fashion. With a hard fought semi-final win against fellow rising talent Carlos Alcaraz, Munar played the finals of the tournament and although he lost a tight match to veteran Pablo Carreno Busta, there was a lot to take away for the younger Spaniard as he looks forward to making further ground during the clay swing here in Europe.

Monteiro Losing Way After Good Start To Season
26-year old Brazilian Thiago Monteiro has been on the tour for the second half of the last decade. With a strong baseline game and a topspin left handed forehand, he has idolized his game on Rafael Nadal. Monteiro had a good run at the ATP Challenger and ITF Futures, but not yet met with success on the main ATP Tour, with his ranking hovering around the top 80 in the world.
2021 was off to a positive start for the Brazilian, with a round of 16 at the Delray Beach Open and a semi-final at the ATP 250 in Melbourne. He ran into a red-hot Andrey Rublev in the second round of the Aussie Open which ended his campaign there.
Coming to the clay, the Brazilian had a good run at the Cordoba Open where he was a quarterfinalist, but an early loss at the Argentina Open right thereafter was disappointing and a failure to get throught the qualifiers last week in Monte Carlo had all but undone a good start to the season for Monteiro. He will be hoping he has a better run this week and onwards, as we get into the heart of the clay court swing.
Munar v Monteiro Prediction and Tip
This could make for an interesting match, but the young Munar has been in good touch in recent times making the finals of the Andalusia Open. Monteiro on the other hand seems to have lost his way a little after a good start this season. Expect Munar to prevail in straight sets.
Tip: Munar to win in straight sets: 4/5 (bet365)
