Yannick Hanfmann v Taro Daniel Head to Head
Hanfmann and Daniel have met twice before on the ATP tour and it is the Japanese, who leads their head-to-head 2-0.
While, Daniel’s maiden win over the German came with a little luck as Hanfmann pulled out of their match in 2011, he needed no such fortune, when he defeated Hanfmann with relative ease in the Burnie Challenger last year.

Hanfmann Resumes after Monte Carlo Disaster
Hanfmann, who has accumulated a miserable 4-6 win/loss record in 2021, even failed to reach the main draw of the Monte Carlo Masters in Monaco. Actually, the German has struggled to find any sort of momentum in his game and that’s why, he has not been able to win a decent number of matches this season.
Barring his brief run in Cagliari, where he made it through to the quarterfinals, Hanfmann’s troubles have magnified after almost each tournament. In fact, his biggest problem has been his serve, which is perhaps the weakest link in his game.
Other than his serve, Hanfmann has been unable to control his unforced errors. At times, he makes a flurry of errors, which allows his adversaries to take advantage of the situation, eventually leading them to win their contests with considerable ease.
Surely, he would need to up his game if he is to taste victory in his first round match in Munich, otherwise another early exit from yet another tournament will be added to his poor record in 2021.

Daniel Finds Some Form in Belgrade
Hanfmann’s opponent in his Munich opener is Taro Daniel from Japan, who has beaten him on two occasions in the past.
Just like Hanfmann, Daniel has struggled big time to get in any sort of rhythm whatsoever this season. In fact, calling his record in 2021 poor is an understatement. Actually, his record is not just poor, but miserable to say the least.
Daniel, though, would have gained immense confidence after managing to reach the quarterfinals of the clay court tournament in Belgrade this week. Although, all the players he defeated in the event, were ranked lower than him, still there’s no substitute of winning matches on the court.
Daniel’s fine run in Belgrade, coupled with his winning record against Hanfmann, would surely keep him in a good space in Munich on Monday. If he exhibits the same form, he showed in Serbia, he would be able to win once again.
Hanfmann v Daniel Prediction and Tip
Daniel, who is a slightly better player on clay, is expected to win this match in three sets, if not in straight sets. But, if he is to win this encounter, then he must find his form very early in the contest.
Tip: Daniel to win: 4/6 (bet365)
