Fokina Solid on Clay This Season
After having not won more than a round at any of the main draws of clay court competitions in 2020, Fokina has made a solid start to the clay swing this year.
At two of the competitions he’s played on that surface, Fokina has excelled – including making it to the quarterfinals at the Monte-Carlo Masters, his first ever such appearance at a Masters 1000 tournament.
Fokina also registered wins over Pablo Andujar, Jeremy Chardy and Ugo Humbert in Estoril to enter the semifinal where he went down to the eventual winner Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
Compared to that, in the 2020 season he had made second round at only Santiago and Paris while not winning any main draw matches in three other clay court competitions.
The Spaniard will now look to continue that string of form as he looks to go better than his recent, career-best ranking of 48th in the world.

Herbert 2-2 on Clay This Year
Having struggled throughout the clay court season so far, Herbert needed to come through the qualifiers to make it to the main draw in Madrid. And he did that well, winning both his matches in straight sets, beating Tennys Sandgren and Gianluca Mager.
His record in main draws of clay court competitions is 2-2 this season, but to go with that, Herbert had also lost in the qualifiers of the Monte-Carlo Masters. Making that loss worse was the fact he fell to Bernard Tomic, a player coming in at 3/1 odds to take the match.
There has been one silver lining to his performances this year though.
That was a showing at the Marseille Open, where he reached the final but more vitally after having defeated Stefanos Tsitsipas and Kei Nishikori. Can he take any sort of confidence from that indoor hard-court showing to try and bring down Fokina?
Fokina v Herbert Prediction and Tip
While Herbert has done well to reach the main draw with back to back straight-set wins in the qualifiers, it’s Fokina who should go through here, and in straight sets too.
Tip: Fokina to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
