Daria Kasatkina v Jessica Pegula Head to Head

Kasatkina In Her Best Ever Season
While not quite a clay court specialist and having not begun her time on dirt in a not so extraordinary manner, Kasatkina has had the kind of season she would be chuffed about. And that by itself should help her take a lot more confidence into the rest of the clay swing than otherwise.
The Russian, who has made the round of 16 in four of her five appearances at Rome, has already won two WTA titles this season. Only Ash Barty, with three, has won more.
The first of these came at the Phillip Island Trophy and following a first round loss in Dubai, Kasatkina then lifted a second title at the St. Petersburg Open.
Following that, the Russian has featured in two tournaments on clay – at Istanbul and Madrid – and lost in round two at both. While the defeat to Aryna Sabalenka at the latter was on expected lines – Sabalenka would later go on to win the title there – a loss at the hands of Marta Kostyuk in Istanbul would have hurt.
And as draws go, this is a tricky one to start things off in Rome.

Pegula’s Form As Good on Hard Court…
…but like Kasatkina, clay isn’t her forte and that has been has been on display.
First things first though, Pegula would be rather chuffed with her performance this season despite not having won a title so far. She started off with a quarterfinal at the Australian Open where she lost to fellow American and friend Jennifer Brady, and followed it up with a semifinal appearance in Doha.
A quarterfinal in Dubai and a third round in Miami meant she entered the clay court swing with a lot of confidence under her belt but Pegula has featured in only one tournament on clay.
That came earlier last week in Madrid, where she won her opener against Sorana Cirstea, got a walkover from Victoria Azarenka before falling in straight sets to Sabalenka.
Kasatkina v Pegula Prediction and Tip
In a battle of two players who haven’t had the best time on clay, Kasatkina will look at her quarterfinal appearance at the 2018 French Open to give her the needed confidence. She is a slight favourite and we back her to come through here.
