Mannarino 0-3 on Clay in 2021
It’s not about this season alone for Mannarino. For a player with a career-high ranking of 22nd in the world, Mannarino has won just 14 of the 58 matches he has featured in on clay. A 0-3 record this season on the same surface only underlines the fact it’s difficult to see Mannarino do much of note on clay.
Even accounting for the fact Mannarino has shown no signs of form from the previous season, the Frenchman is yet to win a set on this surface this year.
It started with a 7-5, 6-1 loss in Monte-Carlo to Federico Delbonis, went on to a 6-4, 6-4 loss at the hands of Albert Ramos-Vinolas at Barcelona and then saw him getting crushed at the hands of Carlos Alcaraz in Madrid.
And while he now plays a qualifier in his first round match here, it wouldn’t be a straightforward call to make if he can open his account on clay in 2021.

Dellien Eases into Main Draw
Ranked 127th in the world, the only way Dellien could have made it to the main draw was via the qualifiers path and that too by beating players much higher-ranked than him.
The Bolivian was 4/1 to overcome Jaume Munar, an in-form Spaniard and did so with utmost ease. Dellien dropped a mere five games in that match and then topped that performance with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Aljaz Bedene in the second qualifier.
What makes this main draw extra special is Dellien’s ranking hasn’t allowed him the liberty to play in too many main draws before this.
He made it to the Australian Open as a lucky loser and as a result of that also featured in the Great Ocean Road Open before that competition. Dellien lost in the openers at both. Later getting a chance to participate in Cordoba, Dellien again fell to Marco Cecchinato in the first round and then featured in a string of Challenger competitions.
Again, his results at even the lower circuit have been barely anything to speak about which makes this main draw entry here an event to remember. Can he now take down the off-colour Mannarino?
Mannarino v Dellien Prediction and Tip
Despite being a lucky loser and having no main draw win this season, Dellien starts a 1/2 favourite to win this and the reason for that is his opponent’s abysmal form on clay. We still think Mannarino will offer a fight and expect him to win a set which offer better odds.
Tip: Mannarino to win a set – Yes: 8/13 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
