Alexander Zverev v Hugo Dellien Head to Head

There was one previous meeting between these two and it came at the 2019 Geneva Open. Zverev won that quarterfinal encounter but it had taken him three sets to get past his opponent there.

Zverev on Cloud Nine after Madrid

After having lifted the Acapulco Open title earlier this year on hard courts, Zverev doubled his tally count for the season by beating Matteo Berrettini in the final of the Madrid Masters last week. It was his second title in Madrid, fourth Masters title overall and third clay-court ATP 1000 series tournament win.

What would have given him supreme confidence is before that final, Zverev took down Kei Nishikori, Dan Evans, Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem, all of which came in straight sets.

Zverev now enters a competition which he has also won, having pocketed the Rome Masters of 2017 with a win over Novak Djokovic. He followed it up with a final appearance in 2018 in this competition where he went down to Nadal.

Having beaten both Nadal and Djokovic in clay Masters competitions, and one of them as recently as the last week, his confidence would have sky-rocketed as the German bids to win his maiden Grand Slam title at some point this season. And to do that, Zverev will hope to remain as clinical against a 128th-ranked player here.

Dellien Overcomes Mannarino in Opener

Having qualified for the competition with back to back straight-set wins in the qualifier, Dellien proceeded to win his first main draw match of the season when he defeated Adrian Mannarino in the first round.

Dellien overcame the loss of the first set and an early break in the second to clinch the match 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 in two hours and 18 minutes to seal the deal.

Mannarino was off to a flier when he broke Dellien in the second game and then again as the Bolivian served to stay in the match at 2-5. Dellien fell 0-3 behind in the second set but he broke back to level things out at 3-3 before he took advantage of some poor serving from Mannarino to break again for the second time.

The third set proved to be an easy affair as Dellien carved out a break in the very first game, and then again the fifth before closing it out with a third soon after.

Can he show a similar fight against a player like Zverev?

Zverev v Dellien Prediction and Tip

This looks like a straightforward win for Zverev who should get the job done in straight sets. Expecting a combination of his win and under 18.5 games to be a safe one.

Tip: Zverev to win AND Under 18.5 games: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
