Iga Swiatek v Barbora Krejcikova Head to Head

Swiatek leads the head-to-head 1-0, winning their only meeting before this in the second round of the Miami Open a few months ago.

Swiatek Looks for Momentum Ahead of Paris

Iga Swiatek attempts to get in the best possible shape as far as her form on the dirt goes, and Rome could be an important step in the right direction.

Swiatek had kicked off her claycourt campaign last week, losing to who was technically the defending Roland Garros champion Ashleigh Barty in the third round of the Mutua Madrid Open.

However, Swiatek has not been one to shy from a challenge and she has been quick to dismiss the challengers in Rome this week. An opening-round victory albeit via retirement against Alison Riske, was followed by a straight-sets win over Madison Keys.

The Pole was made to work her socks off in the first set, reeling off four straight games when she trailed 5-3. After putting the set in the bag, Swiatek made a better impression of herself in the second set she gave up a single game.

The World No. 15 will look to polish up her first serve in her next match against the unorthodox Barbora Krejcikova. Swiatek landed just 50% of first serves despite winning 68% of points from it.

Krejcikova Secures Kenin Stunner

Barbora Krejciokva mastered a second-round stunner as she defeated last year’s French Open finalist Sofia Kenin. Kenin is currently in the midst of a career slump since her breakthrough 2020 season which yielded a Major title at the Australian Open.

After parting ways with her father on a coaching capacity, the American fell to a third straight defeat on clay, to the softspoken Krejcikova.

Krejcikova, who is fresh from winning the Madrid Open doubles title last weekend with Katerina Siniakova, has found her touch on clay this week. She dropped two games in tearing Zheng Saisai to shreds in the first round. And Kenin found it harder by the minute to grab a stranglehold of the match.

Overall, Krejcikova won 68% first-serve points and broke serve five times to win 6-1 6-4.

Can she conjure up one of the big upsets of the week by knocking out the defending Roland Garros champion on Thursday?

Swiatek v Krejcikova Prediction and Tip

Krejciokva’s wins have been in such convincing fashion that could spell another upset is on the cards on Thursday. However, Swiatek is such an extraordinary athlete on clay and should be far too solid to breach.
