Stefanos Tsitsipas v Matteo Berrettini Head to Head

It’s interesting to note that the only main draw meeting between these two came at the 2019 Australian Open where Tsitsipas won that first round encounter in four sets.

There have been other matches too though, including one in the US Open qualifier in 2017 where Tsitsipas won as well and in exhibition tournaments like the Kooyong Classic and the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.

Earlier this year, they were supposed to play at the Australian Open but Tsitsipas progressed after Berrettini’s withdrawal

Tsitsipas Slams Past Cilic

After taking a little more time than he would have, Tsitsipas came through his second round encounter against Marin Cilic to seal this place in the round of 16.

Tsitsipas needed an hour and 45 minutes to get past Cilic, wining 7-5, 6-2 to make it this far in successive weeks. Last week, Tsitipas had fallen in the third round of the Madrid Open and he will prefer for a deeper run through to the later stages.

In the first set of their encounter, Tsitsipas got himself a break-point in the sixth game and then warded off two off his own serve in the ninth before he managed to break his opponent as Cilic served at 5-6. He got three break-points, clinching the set off the third.

The second set was a breezier affair after Tsitsipas broke early and and then again as Cilic served to stay in the match at 2-5.

Can this be another easy win for the Greek?

Berrettini Mauls Millman in Round Two

Since losing in his opener at the Monte-Carlo Masters, Berrettini’s form on clay has been nothing short of exemplary. In fact he has won 10 of his next 11 matches, losing only to Alexander Zverev in the final of the Madrid Masters last week.

In the process, the Italian number one has made it to two finals – winning the Belgrade Open and finishing runnerup in Madrid.

And he seems to have carried his form into this competition in Rome where Berrettini first needed three sets to get past Nikoloz Basilashvili but then converted it into an easy second round win against John Millman.

Berrettini defeated Millman 6-2, 6-4 to seal his place in round three and will now be in some of his best form going against a player of the calibre of Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas v Berrettini Prediction and Tip

Tsitsipas is 2/5 to win this and while Berrettini’s clay form has been second to almost nobody else, we believe Tstsipas should be able to take him down.
