Three-Match Losing Streak for Dimitrov

After storming into the quarterfinal of the Australian Open where he finally lost to Aslan Karatsev, Dimitrov made it to the quarterfinal of the Acapulco Open as well and by the looks of things, he was getting back to his best.

The same form looked to have continued on clay too. Wins over Jan-Lennard Struff and Jeremy Chardy took him to the third round at the Monte-Carlo Masters but facing Rafael Nadal in that match, Dimitrov fell to an easy defeat.

Another loss in the first round of the Madrid Masters followed soon after to Lloyd Harris, before he lost to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the opener in Rome.

With a three-match losing streak under his belt, Dimitrov will now hope he can reverse that here in Geneva for starters. The bigger question is if he can propel forward deep enough to help him regain his confidence going into the French Open, a tournament he has traditionally not done too well at but did make it to a career-best fourth round last year.

Ivashka Runs Down Verdasco

It took Ivashka to overcome bit of a slow start before he got into some rhythm to overcome Fernando Verdasco in their opening round in Geneva. In the end, Ivashka overturned Verdasco 7-6 (5), 6-4 to advance to round two.

Ivashka needed an hour and 46 minutes to come through and while he failed to get off to a flying start as one would expect against a player who was 9/2 to win it, he did well to retain his service.

In fact, in the entire match, Ivashka faced just one break-point and that came in the first game of the opening set. Once he had saved that, there was no threatening of his serve again as he first won the opening tie-breaker and then broke Verdasco in the fifth game of the second.

That turned out to the only break of the match as Ivashka completed his seventh win on clay this season to set up this meeting with Dimitrov.

And with a quarterfinal in Marbella and a semifinal at Munich under his belt, Ivashka will back himself to put up a strong showing against the world number 20.

Dimitrov v Ivashka Prediction and Tip
